Probably, Medium needs to consider the wonderful feedback parameters TED used to have. They've abondoned it now but it built TED as it encouraged viewers to enage with the talks. I'd probaly replace claps with two-three simple questions:

1. Did you learn something new from the article?

2. Would you like to share with a friend?

3. Did you find it transformative?
